Abram Ware

April 10, 1955 — January 26, 2025

Abram Ware, III (Sonnyboy or Abe) was born April 10, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the namesake of his father and grandfather, and the third of five children born to the loving union of Abram Ware, Jr. and Mary Ware. Though he now joins his beloved wife, Beverly Jo, his parents Abram Ware, Jr., and Mary Ware, and sisters Zana Ware and Cheryl Stubbs and his nephew Michael Ware in peace, his vibrant spirit remains with us.

Abram accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was baptized in 1965 on Easter Sunday at Northern Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. James Goolsby. Abram repented, and recommitted his belief and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in the witness of his son Dr. Adrian Ware, days before he transitioned into eternity. Throughout his 69 years. Abram was a man who had the spectacular ability to light up a room and leave everyone grinning from ear to ear with his relentless jokes that kept everyone cracking up; Abram found humor in just about every situation.

Abram graduated from the prestigious Charles E. Sumner High School in 1973, a fact he relished sharing with anyone he met. Abram was a proud Sumner Bulldog to the heart, and he was extremely involved with all the activities held by his beloved classmates of 1973. Abram was voted "Most Athletic" and was known as an outstanding gymnast. Abram was known to backflip repeatedly to the amazement of all who witnessed this incredible feat. Abram was involved in Gymnastics, Band, Boosters, and he played baseball. Abram found great comradery with a group of best friends that affectionately became known as The Fellas.

From there, life took him to new heights-quite literally-as he served his country with pride as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Dedicated to protecting the freedoms of his fellow Americans, Abram's bravery and self-less service was unmatched. Abram was honorably discharged from the Air Force on September 11, 1977.

For over 30 years, Abram worked as a Supervisor in the Environmental Services field, overseeing teams of Asbestos Removal Technicians. Abram was known by his employees as being kind, thorough, wise, and he was known as a supervisor who had their back. One of his most notable quotes was, "handle your business, don't let your business handle you!"

Not one to shy away from adventure, on June 21, 1980, Abram embarked on his greatest of life's journeys-his marriage to Beverly Jo, beginning a new chapter filled with joy and love, and from their union was born a beautiful baby girl, Angel Celine Ware.

A lover of sports, and all manner of games, Abram enjoyed playing Spades, Tonk, Bid Whist, Gut, and Dominoes. Abram was fiercely competitive yet always affable, blending a knack for victory with endless humor. He was also a world-class athlete, bringing his zest for challenge into every competition with a flair only he possessed. Abram traveled all over the United States playing softball with the Black American Softball Association, where he scored numerous home runs, and turned thousands of backflips to the wonder and amazement of large crowds.
